Activity Summary
Our
aims:
-
To
promote the preservation of life incidental to a search, by
providing volunteer service in support of the National Search and
Rescue System; and as requested by the Province of Saskatchewan;
-
To
promote Search and Rescue Accident Prevention and Aviation Safety
activities for the prevention of aircraft and occupant accidents and
loss of life;
-
To
provide volunteer support services to carry out Authorized
Activities related to Search and Rescue operations and Search and
Rescue Training in such a manner as may be agreed upon from time to time.
We also aim to
offer a rewarding experience for our volunteers!
CASARA is
jointly sponsored by the Department of National Defense and the
Department of Transport who provide:
-
training
in areas such as aviation safety, weather, survival, pilot decision
making, and search techniques and procedures
Our
activities:
Our
primary role includes searching from the air, and conducting
electronic searches on the ground. Although we encourage everyone to
become proficient members of our air crews, we know that not all
people will be able or desire to fly, or may not be physically able
to fly. We recognize that here are many other equally important
ground related duties and assignments that members might undertake.
Association
volunteer members:
-
participate in
Aviation Safety and search and rescue training programs;
-
provide air
search support services; View Dispatch Report
-
provide
suitable aircraft;
-
provide highly
trained, safety-conscious crews to fly as pilots, navigators and
spotters on Association aircraft, and as spotters on Canadian Forces
aircraft as required;
-
provides an
insurance package including personal accident, hull and liability
insurance coverage;
-
provides
administrative support;
-
provides
reimbursement for aircraft operating expenses based on aircraft type
and local fuel costs;
-
provides
reimbursement for incidental expenses that members may incur.
