CASARA lost several friends in 2003....

MEMORIAL  -  JOHN BARKMAN Zone 8

John Barkman was a CASARA pilot in Zone 8, Regina.  John succumbed to complications of cancer on September 1, 2003 at the age of 73.  John was a CASARA pilot longer than most.  He had logged more than 8,000 hours of flying, had a Commercial License and maintained a Single Engine Instrument Rating till the end.

In 1988, Tom Ray, our Provincial Training Officer, took his first ever CASARA flight as a spotter in the back of a Cessna 337 piloted by John Barkman.  John’s last aircraft was a trusty Beechcraft Bonanza.  John, using his Bonanza, maintained his currency with CASARA Zone 8.  John always liked to fly fast.  It was excellent training for new navigators to try and slow John down to a decent search speed.  CASARA is now minus a super pilot and a great friend

MEMORIAL  -  TERRY LAW Zone 2

I don't know if you have heard or not but, Zone 2 CASARA member Terry Law passed away suddenly December 9, 2003. Terry and his wife Florence have been active members for several years. Our thoughts and prayers go out to Florence who has faced many challenges in her life, but this must be the hardest challenge of all for her.
